KINGMAN—Pearl Elmer Allen, 88, retired farmer of the Cates neighborhood, died at 5:55 p.m. Friday in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Ill., where he had been a patient since suffering a hip fracture Oct. 5. Born north of Cates July 1, 1876, he was a son of Valentine and Saline Booe Allen. He was married to Susan S. Askren Aug. 8, 1905. She died July 12, 1963. Mr. Allen was a member of Chapel Church and a life resident of Fountain County. Surviving are two sons, Delmar of Rt. 3 Veedersburg and Jessie of Rt. 1 Veedersburg; a half-sister, Josie Davis of Cates, and four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington, where friends may call. Rev. Alfred Dobbs will officiate. Interment will be in Fraternal Cemetery here.

Funeral services for Pearl Elmer Allen, age 88, who died Friday, Oct. 16, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville, Ill., where he had been a patient 10 days, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here. The Rev. Alfred Dobbs officiated and burial was in the Kingman Fraternal Cemetery. For the past year, he had made his home alternately with his two sons in the Veedersburg area. He fell Oct. 5 at the home of his son, Jesse, of Veedersburg Rt. 1, and fractured his hip. Mr. Allen was born July 1, 1876 north of Cates, the son of Valentine and Salana Booe Allen. He was married August 8, 1905 to Susan S. Askren, who preceded him in death on July 12, 1963. He had been a life resident of Fountain County and he was a farmer. He was a member of the Cooper Chapel Church. He is survived by: two sons, Delmar of Veedersburg Rt. 3 and Jesse of Veedersburg Rt. 1; a half sister, Mrs. Josie Davis of Cates; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by nine brothers and eight great-grandchildren.
